2nd Edition of Her Majesty Championship Concludes with Spectacular Finals

The 2nd edition of the Her Majesty Dr. Josephine Diete-Spiff Female Football Championship Cup concluded in spectacular fashion at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.

Government Girls Secondary School, Yenagoa emerged as champions after a hard-fought victory, showcasing the incredible talent developing in Bayelsa State's female football scene.

The championship, which ran from January 6-10, 2025, saw participation from 24 secondary schools across the three senatorial districts of Bayelsa State. The tournament featured 32 matches with 87 goals scored, demonstrating the competitive nature of girls' football in the state.

Her Majesty, Queen Dr. Josephine Diete-Spiff, expressed her joy at the success of the event, emphasizing the championship's role in empowering young girls through sports.

"This championship is not just about football. It's about building character, promoting education, and giving our girls platforms to excel," she stated during the closing ceremony.

Outstanding players received scholarships and awards, reinforcing the championship's commitment to supporting the academic and sporting development of participants.
